Frequently asked questions

+Is a metal roof loud in rain?

Over solid decking and underlayment, a metal roof is no louder inside than asphalt. The noise reputation comes from barn roofs installed over open purlins.

+Does hail dent metal roofing?

Large hail can leave cosmetic dents in thinner gauges. Stone-coated steel and heavier-gauge standing seam resist it well, and function is rarely affected.

+Can metal go over my existing shingles?

Sometimes, but we usually recommend tear-off so the decking can be inspected and the underlayment installed correctly.
