We know there are veterans in our community living under roofs they can no longer afford to repair or replace. Roof Over a Hero is our way of saying thank you — by giving one deserving veteran the gift of a safe, secure home with a brand-new roof.

What the donation includes
- ✓Complete residential roof tear-off and replacement

- ✓Magnetic nail sweep and complete jobsite cleanup
Exclusions may apply for rotten decking, structural repairs, solar panel removal, gutters, chimneys, asbestos, mold remediation or code upgrades beyond the standard scope.

Eligibility
Who qualifies for Roof Over a Hero?
- 1Nominee must be a U.S. military veteran with a verified need for a new roof.
- 2Property must be located within Roof Smith's Texas or New Mexico service area.
- 3Roof should be beyond economical repair or pose a safety risk to the household.
- 4Veteran (or household) must lack the resources or insurance coverage to replace the roof.
- 5Recipient agrees to reasonable photography and media participation for the project story.
- 6Prize is non-transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash.

Common questions
+Who can be nominated?
Any U.S. military veteran living in our service area who genuinely needs a new roof and does not have the means or insurance coverage to replace it. You can nominate yourself, a family member, a neighbor or a fellow service member.
+What does the donated roof include?
A complete residential roof replacement, including tear-off, new Owens Corning roofing materials, synthetic underlayment, ice-and-water protection in valleys and around penetrations, new flashing, and a full workmanship warranty. Excluded items like rotten decking, structural repairs, solar removal or gutters are handled on a case-by-case basis.
+When do nominations close?
Nominations close April 30, 2026. Finalists will be contacted for a property inspection, and the selected veteran will be announced shortly after.
+How is the recipient chosen?
Our selection committee scores each nomination on roofing need (30%), financial/personal need (30%), military service (20%), community/family story (10%), and the impact the donation would make (10%). Property inspections help confirm the scope of work before a final decision.
+Do I need to submit photos of the roof?
Photos are not required to nominate, but they help us understand the condition of the roof. If selected as a finalist, we will schedule a free inspection to document the damage in person.
+What areas does Roof Smith serve?
We serve Amarillo, Lubbock, Clovis, Eagle Nest, Logan, Roswell and surrounding communities across the Texas Panhandle and Eastern New Mexico.
